Over the years I have several times
done paintings of people as animals and I have often represented myself
as an intense little hedgehog, busily sketching a world viewed at close
quarters. Like the hedgehog, I have never been very good at telling jokes.
It seems that I can never recreate the punch line as I first heard it.
Instead, I like to tell little stories and the only way this can work is
to find an audience that is receptive and forgiving - and willing to take
the time to find the humor with me. This hedgehog has found just such an
audience.
